Transition 3081 is running a series of 10 Sustainable Living Workshops in 2019 with support from a 2018 Banyule Environmental Sustainability Grant. This is the 9th workshop in this series.
The Asian vegetables include Shiso, Bitter gourd, Okra, Edamame….
These can be planted now and are short term vegetables that can be harvested in 2 to 3 months. Find out about crop rotation, what manure is best, what is bolting and mixed planting system. Learn authentic Japanese cooking using these Asian greens. Handouts, seedlings available and food sample. Workshop is hands-on, you will cook, eat, laugh and clean up together!
The facilitators: Seila Hierk is a garden specialist at Aspendale Gardens Primary School and Mikoto Araki is a Japanese interpreter and a sustainable workshops organiser but also passionate about Zero Waste, she coordinates numerous community meals using whole food and fresh produce from the backyard garden.
Seila and Mikoto have run various workshops in 3081 in the past
This workshop is organised by Transition 3081, which promotes sustainable living in the 3081 postcode.
Your ticket to this event includes 2 pots seedlings and light lunch. Please let us know your special dietary requirements upon booking, also if you have any special needs.
