Gardeners wanted at Stewart Lodge
Back in October there was a permablitz at Stewart Lodge Supported Residential Service in Brunswick. It was a great day! Check out the photos below. I’ve been back lately and the results are fantastic! They are now looking for some help maintaining it, which would be a very rewarding project for any one who is interested…
Regular Volunteers Needed- Stewart Lodge Permaculture Garden
Stewart Lodge is a Supported Residential Service in Brunswick, accommodating 80 men and women living with mental illness, physical or intellectual disability, or acquired brain injury.
· Resident involvement in the garden improves their physical and mental health and wellbeing
· All the produce from the garden is used by the Cooks in healthy meals
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to help maintain the garden and to help engage the residents with the garden. Volunteers require no experience, just a friendly attitude and a willingness to interact with people from marginalized backgrounds. Flexible days/hours.
About the project, residents have said:
“ It’s good meeting and working with volunteers. It’s beautiful. It makes me feel better, it’s my hobby. I like the range of food grown.”
“There’s activities. Growing vegetables. People gathering together, having a good time, it’s good to see people participating all together.”
