Permablitz #209 – pt1 – Edithvale – Booked Out!
Date(s) - July 22, 2018
Time - 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
This event is totally booked out - but keep an eye out for more blitzes being announced soon!
Tina discovered permaculture a few years ago and has since started volunteering at the Downs Estate in Seaford, joined her local community garden and even teamed up with her local permaculture group! After being inspired by a permaculture design at a Very Edible Gardens workshop, she’s decided to take the plunge and apply the principles to her own garden – and superstar Guild Designer Terry has helped make her dreams into a reality!
Of course, they need a bit of help to get it all together – and we’re going to make sure it happens đ
On the day, we’re going to be:
- Lining and filling the wicking beds x 4
- Filling the raised beds x 4
- Preparing for a semi-tropical food forest including removing bricks, relocating a spa and making lasagne
- Digging and building a pond
- Planting fruit trees, edibles and insect/bird attracting plants suitable for this time of the year
There will be some great workshops, including
- pruning a fig tree
- building an insect hotel
- building wicking beds to Colin Austinâs new system
This is a super kid friendly* blitz! Kids activities include:
- Making a bog insect hotel
- Painting pots
- Helping with planting
*Ideally kids should wear gloves and face masks because of manure and mulch fumes
Things to bring:
Gum boots and thick socks for the first part – moving compost and manure!
Please bring hats, coats and gardening gloves, also we need 3 or 4 wheelbarrows and lots of shovels and sturdy rakes.
This will be a great day – make sure you get your name down in the form below!
This event is now totally booked out! Stay tuned though, we’re pretty sure there will be another blitz announced soon…
