Permablitz #215 – Sunbury

Michaela and Matt have been working to make her mother Lyn’s house a self-sufficient paradise. Lyn is currently unemployed after a long career as a factory worker and more recently a full time carer. Michaela and Matt became interested in permaculture a couple of years ago and realised that Lyn’s empty backyard was a valuable resource that could not only give them the joy of a space to garden but help food healthy organic food on all of our plates.
So we’re going to help them make this dream a reality!
Transformative tasks for the day include:
- Establishing a food forest on the southern and western boundaries
- Moving the chicken coop
- Installing drainage to use roof rain water in food forest
- Building a herb spiral
- Planting and espaliering trees on the eastern boundary
- Establishing a sitting area
Fun workshops include:
- Composting (Hot, Cold and Worm Farms)
- Chicken coops
- Herb Spiral
- Preserving fresh produce with Lacto-fermentation
Tools to bring (if you can):
- Shovels and spades
- Garden forks
- Hoe
- Wheel barrows
- Picks/Maddocks
- Pliers
- Wire cutters
- BYO garden gloves
