Damon and Zoe Gameau will be cooking up a storm with special guests to demonstrate how easy low sugar living is.
The World Health Organisation recommends a maximum of 6 teaspoons of added sugar a day. Australians are on average eating far more this, and alarmingly Australians teenagers are consuming nearly 40 teaspoons of total sugar per day! Too much added sugar is linked to a range of major health problems – tooth decay, type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease and more. Often we think we’re making healthy choices, not realising that sugar could be hidden inside.
6 Spoons in June challenges us to rethink our relationship with sugar and set a new daily target of six teaspoons or less a day during June and beyond. The focus is on reducing our sugar intake rather than cutting it out entirely, swapping over-sweetened food we love for healthier versions that are just as tasty.
There will be heaps of low sugar tasty tips and recipes for inspiration at The Great Sugar Showdown.
Stay tuned for updates and we hope to see you there!
