Free workshop: Designing with Indigenous plants
Date(s) - June 13, 2018
Time - 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This is a third-party event not organised by Permablitz. We've added it because we reckon it looks pretty good!
Location - Edendale Community Environment Farm
Nillumbik’s Indigenous plants are beautiful and offer the home gardener a wonderful opportunity to connect with their local context. By better understanding the indigenous plants available and how they can be used you will be better equipped to transform your home garden into the beautiful indigenous landscape you imagine it could be.
Ben Crisfeld-Smith (Crisfield Landscape) will guide you through a range of topics, assisted by Scott Tunbridge (Plant Production Assistant, Latrobe Wildlife Sanctuary) presenting on the benefits of indigenous plants, leaving you with information on:
How to:
- Understand your gardens characteristics
- Design a garden with Indigenous plants
- Regenerate a damaged site and restore soil structure
- Accommodate local birds and insects
- Maintain an indigenous garden
- Work with provenance to help choose indigenous plants
- Germinate your own indigenous seeds and cuttings
- Plant under existing mature trees and tailor floral resources
- Create Indigenous lawns, meadows and habitats
