This is a third-party event not organised by Permablitz. We've added it because we reckon it looks pretty good!

Join us for a weekend of tool time with skilled carpenter Alex Oakey of Captive Creations. Learn the essentials, hone your skills and just have a go! We’ll gather in a lush and spacious backyard workspace off of Westgarth street in Northcote, open and accessible to all. No experience or tools required.

The workshop will run Saturday November 11, 10AM – 5PM and Sunday Nov 12, 10AM – 5PM.

Saturday: Intro to hand tools, measuring, saw and chisel technique, choosing timber, types of joints and their uses. Plenty of time, tools and space to ask questions, work on a project or just play.

Sunday : Learn to use a router, make jigs, and refine your measuring and cutting. Get creative and make a small project with expert guidance (lots of spare timber to practise with) or join in a group bee hive build using finger joints.

Tea, snacks, and a delicious vegetarian lunch will be provided each day.
