Join us for a weekend of tool time with skilled carpenter Alex Oakey of Captive Creations. Learn the essentials, hone your skills and just have a go! We’ll gather in a lush and spacious backyard workspace off of Westgarth street in Northcote, open and accessible to all. No experience or tools required.

The workshop will run Saturday April 14, 10AM – 5PM and Sunday April 15, 10AM – 5PM.

Saturday: Intro to hand tools, measuring, saw and chisel technique, choosing timber, types of joints and their uses. Work on a simple, given design or one of your own imagination.

Sunday : Learn to use a router and other power tools and refine your measuring and cutting. Continue your project from Saturday or make another small piece with expert guidance (lots of spare timber to practise with).

Tea, snacks, and a delicious vegetarian lunch will be provided each day.
