Abdallah House Tours on Permaculture Day
Date(s) - May 7, 2017
Time - 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
This is a third-party event not organised by Permablitz. We've added it because we reckon it looks pretty good!
Location - Abdullah House
Visit Abdallah House in Seymour on Permaculture Day for house and garden tours by owner builder Richard Telford.
The property is a local example of how to live more lightly on the planet by producing most of the needs of the family of four on site; including fruit, vegetables, nuts, eggs, water, firewood and electricity.
The passive solar home uses about one fifth of the energy consumed of similar sized households even though Richard and his partner Kunie work from home and their children are schooled part-time.
Features include; a cellar / tank stand with integrated cool cupboard, decking made from a Red Gum grown and milled on-site, greenhouse connected to the house, infiltration basin which harvests rainwater runoff as well as multi-grafted fruit salad trees.
The $5 cost includes one of Richard’s 2017 Permaculture Calendars which illustrate the 12 permaculture design principles. Tours run on Sunday at 2pm and again at 3:30 for about an hour. See abdallahhouse.com for more.
