We said goodbye recently to Andrew Campbell-Fraser who has designed and facilitated several great permablitzes in the last 12 months.  Fortuitously, he moved to Perth in the same week that a new permablitz network was launched there.

STEWART LODGE WORKING BEE 081.JPG[ Back in October there was a permablitz at Stewart Lodge Supported Residential Service in Brunswick.  It was a great day!  Check out the photos.  I've been back lately and the results are fantastic!  They are now looking for some help maintaining it, which would be a very rewarding project for any one who is interested... ]

Regular Volunteers Needed- Stewart Lodge Permaculture Garden

Stewart Lodge is a Supported Residential Service in Brunswick, accommodating 80 men and women living with mental illness, physical or intellectual disability, or acquired brain injury.

· Resident involvement in the garden improves their physical and mental health and wellbeing

· All the produce from the garden is used by the Cooks in healthy meals

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to help maintain the garden and to help engage the residents with the garden.  Volunteers require no experience, just a friendly attitude and a willingness to interact with people from marginalized backgrounds. Flexible days/hours.

About the project, residents have said:

“ It’s good meeting and working with volunteers.  It’s beautiful.  It makes me feel better, it’s my hobby.  I like the range of food grown.”

“There’s activities.  Growing vegetables.  People gathering together, having a good time, it’s good to see people participating all together.”
