On average fresh produce from the supermarket has traveled 8,730kms before reaching the plate. Compare that to the 10 steps into the garden. Also, HOME GROWN FOOD uses only 1/5th the water. For the sake of our water security, environment, cultural heritage and health we need the introduction of water allocations for home food production.
