Welcome

Welcome to permablitz.net - this site has been set up to help people get together and have fun learning about, designing and implementing suburban permaculture systems.  Our focus is edible gardens, and our ultimate aim is to make the suburbs edible enough such that should food become unaffordable, we don’t even notice.  See below for the next permablitz and feel free to submit your own onto the calendar.  Check out photos of blitzes 1-6 here, and photos of more recent blitzes in our gallery.

Yesterday we heard from Dot Green who hosted permablitz # 34 in Bolinda near Sunbury November 3rd 2007.  The designer was the wonderful Clarisse Thomasset - a keen blitzer and permaculturalist we all miss since she left Melbourne to continue on her journey.  Anyways, here's what Dot had to say:

"Dear friends, who assisted us in October and November 2007, here are some photos of our veggie garden’s bounty. We are foraging a wonderful diversity of veggies now including...

...different varieties of peas, corn, cabbage, spring onion, tomatoes, celery, capsicums, silver beet, parsley, basil, lettuce, beetroot, zucchini, carrots and warragul greens.

Which all taste glorious!  We have many pumpkins and watermelons growing on the vine and we will be giving away tomatoes soon.  Potatoes are coming up to harvest too.

Very excitingly, we have seen 2 different frogs in our pond.  I have only ever heard one sound that could be a frog call, they are very quiet but if I’ve seen 2 without looking too hard I expect there are or soon will be more.

The trees on the creek are all doing well.  We’ve had regular rain over the summer.  We have another 200 tubes ordered in autumn and will be inviting you to join us for a couple of planting days.

Creating our permaculture garden with your assistance has been a glorious adventure, I know we’ll build gardens wherever we go now.  It made all the difference having the permablitzes to get the garden started, I encourage all of you to invite others in your community to join you in creating abundant life and nutrition in your garden.  Remember to register your permablitz at www.permablitz.net

Much love,
Dot
