Welcome

Welcome to permablitz.net - this site has been set up to help people get together and have fun learning about, designing and implementing suburban permaculture systems.  Our focus is edible gardens, and our ultimate aim is to make the suburbs edible enough such that should food become unaffordable, we don’t even notice.  See below for the next permablitz and feel free to submit your own onto the calendar.  Check out photos of blitzes 1-6 here, and photos of more recent blitzes in our gallery.

This Sunday November 4th not only will Melbourne's 35th permablitz unfold, and up the coast not only will Sydney's very first permablitz unfold, but across the Tasman New Zealand's very first permablitz will unfold!  All three permablitzes will be happening simultaneously, in a transnational explosion of edibility!  See our calendar for more info on the Australian blitzes, and here's some words from NZ's first Permablitz host Lisa:

First New Zealand Permablitz!
Nau mai, haere mai, everybody welcome!
Sunday 4th November, noon til dusk

At Lisa's place, 76 Virginia Rd, St Johns Hill, Whanganui (06 345 2834)
We will be:
Having a heap of fun, learning about Permaculture and meeting new people
in the process.
Liberating some lawn by sheet mulching to create new edible gardens.
Building a compost heap to nourish the new garden.
Building an outdoor fire bath.
Building a Worm farm.
Sharing a delicious feast (supplied) and dancing the permasalsa to celebrate our afternoon's efforts.

With a mystery special guest from Permablitz Melbourne.

"Permaculture activism is now ready to reclaim Australian suburban landscapes and culture as the Energy Descent future of resource scarcity and climatic instability turns consumerist culture to compost. Permablitz is on the frontline." David Holmgren, co-originator or the permaculture concept
