Welcome

Welcome to permablitz.net - this site has been set up to help people get together and have fun learning about, designing and implementing suburban permaculture systems.  Our focus is edible gardens, and our ultimate aim is to make the suburbs edible enough such that should food become unaffordable, we don’t even notice.  See below for the next permablitz and feel free to submit your own onto the calendar.  Check out photos of blitzes 1-6 here, and photos of more recent blitzes in our gallery.

Here Nelson Campus, President of Codemo (www.codemo.org.au) describes the day held at his place to celebrate the first ten permablitzes.  Nelson's place was the site of an early blitz and you can see before and after photos in the gallery.   "Well, the last permaculture activity when Peta's community garden from buncle st. came to my place to see the progress of my garden and how the chook tractor works so well, the activities were great.  As soon as they came we had lunch, a  lot of organic veggies from the community garden like salads.  It was raining and windy but the weather didn't stop them from having fun, the members of the community garden started dancing in the garage and I had my chance when I had a dance with the lovely  chiness lady of 97 years old!  The weather fined up later and we had a tour through my garden." "First I showed them how I was collecting the rain water to minimize cost for watering plants, then I explained the good of collecting the grass clippings from our own back how I started using the chook tractor in sections and when I moved it I planted where the chickens were, then the soil is rich because of  the manure from the chickens. They asked me how much I spent on the garden, I told then I spent no money except for the chicken food.now I am enjoying a variety of veggies and herbs like lettuces, parsley, coriander, mint, broad beans, brocolli etc. Then Peta showed us a video from the community garden that it was on the news, it was great to see almost everyone from the community garden appearing on TV.At the end of the video Peter brought many seeds to share with everyone, there were thousands of different kind of seeds and everyone were more than happy to take some home. Codemo's members were very happy to participate and share a great afternoon with different multicultural background friends.Despite my injury i could cope with the pain and enjoy a great moment with such amaizing people from buncle St.thanks to Peta that made this posible, we hope to participate toguether in another permaculture adventure in the near future."
