EcoCentre

The Port Phillip EcoCentre is a place where environmental solutions are hatched and nurtured.

The EcoCentre is a not-for-profit community-managed environment group, supported by the City of Port Phillip. The EcoCentre provides a base for a number of affiliate groups involved in a range of activities, that promote biodiversity and community action.

The EcoCentre committee welcomes anyone interested in joining EcoCentre project teams, affiliate group activities and suggestions for new environmental initiatives.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS

The Port Phillip EcoCentre is seeking artists with an environmental edge, interested in its 2009 ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM – For which Government funding will be sought.

Interested artists are invited to come down to the Port Phillip EcoCentre and obtain an application form which they are then invited to submit outlining their project idea. Applications close on Friday the 5th of December 2008.


Volunteers - We need YOU

Current positions:

  1. Marketing assistant wanted to write articles, publicize events and EcoCentre programs.

  2. Handy person to assist with general maintenance tasks and to be part of a team to paint the EcoCentre in January 2009.

The Beach Buddies St Kilda coast activities for families
continues into the Autumn!

 

Highly qualified Beach Buddies tour guides will take your family on a tour to enjoy and learn about the delights of St Kilda’s coastal environment at night.

Enjoy some great games and activities while learning all about:
• Local wildlife and plants
• Conservation and management issues
• What you can do to care for the coast

The tour ends at the begining of the St Kilda breakwater, with the possibility of seeing penguins and rakali.

Tour price is $18 per adult, $12 per child (under 16) and concession.

For groups of 3 or more a free Beach Buddies bag is included, containing:
• Penguin Panic board game
• DVD of amazing underwater Port Phillip Bay
• Coast Care Coast Action activities book
• Earthcare booklets and activities

 

 

Wear warm clothing, closed footwear and bring a bottle of water.

Time changes monthly, please confirm when making booking.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are not permitted. A non-refundable booking fee of $5 per group is applicable. Additional Beach Buddies bags are available to buy @ $15 each, please advise how many are required when booking.

Showerhead Exchange Program

 

The EcoCentre has another batch of showerheads to exchange for residents of the City of Port Phillip. Bring along your old showerhead and exchange it for a three star water efficient showerhead, Monday to Friday 10:00am - 4:00pm.

Individual membership $16.50 per year.

Household membership $22.00 per year.

Affiliate membership $22.00 + $1.10 for each member (ceiling of $200.00) per year.

If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the EcoCentre public fund please download the donation form, mail it with you donation to the EcoCentre and we will send you a receipt.
