Gisborne Montessori School has a vision and a plan for becoming a Permaculture Open Garden to show other schools what can be achieved and encourage schools to get full permaculture designs done for their environments - not just vege gardens.
We have between 1200 - 1500 trees that desperately need to go into the ground and now is the time! If we get more people than 'required' for tree planting we have lots of other work to be done - spreading compost, making seed balls for the food forest (donations of dynamic accumulator seeds/plants greatly appreciated), erecting pallet windbreaks (donations of untreated pallets hugely appreciated), enlarging our teepee village gardens etc etc. Other donations required are chicken wire and shadecloth if you have any spare... Lunch, nibbles, tea and coffee provided. It's not essential, but it would be appreciated if you could RSVP a week prior so I can ensure I cater for enough people with lots of useful work coordinated and required resources organised. If you are coming by V-line train we will pick you up from Gisborne Station (500m to school). Please RSVP to Linda for catering purposes and directions.
