2007 is taking off like tomatoes in a raised bed with another blitz booked in for January 28 2007 at Linda's place in Eaglemont (the week before Brendan's). Linda has taken some initial steps towards food production. She’s got an old chook, fruit trees and vegie patches. Linda is enlisting the help of permablitzing buddies to take the system to the next level. We plan to integrate these elements and bring in some new ones such as water tanks, grey water irrigation, and a terraced garden bed with kaleidoscopic herb spiral.
Workshops on the day will be: building terraced garden beds with bricks and mortar and a herb spiral and designing/implementing/brainstorming an irrigation system including water tanks, grey water, subsurface irrigation and possibly a small ephemeral wetland! (with Andrew). We will also have a talk urban agriculture/worm farming/fruit preserving (topic TBC) and a salsa lesson with Linda.
Bring some tools for digging (trench diggers, spades, garden forks, mattocks etc), and bricklaying (trowel, wheelbarrow), spare/scrap metal reinforcement or wire mesh for concrete footings. The standard fare of compost, mulch, organic matter, seedlings etc would also be welcome! Bring a bite to eat/share, music and steel-capped dancing shoes.
