Okay, permablitz numero Diez y seis (16) is booked in for February 11th at Brendan's place in Moorabbin. With Brendan all set to take his first step into home-based food production, we'll be there in full support. Six of us already showed up for the pre-blitz site analysis and with Brendan we've made plans for a sweet little system including a green house, roof-harvesting water tanks, raised beds, chooks and fruit trees. Brendan's backyard is dominated by a beautiful elm tree that will be having a haircut in preparation, with Brendan busy researching tanks, moving his washing line, sorting out some chicken accommodation and fixing up the fence before the day.

Come along and be a part of the unfolding design, which on the day will include unleashing some chooks onto a mountain of wandering dew, trellising and vining some vertical edges, prepping and planting out the initial zone one veggie bed, seeding a worm farm and building a compost pile. And if that wasn't incentive enough, the day may well turn out to include a a sour dough bread workshop with Dan, a tutorial on alternative grain crops from Paul and an airing of a short documentary about peak oil and permablitzes.

What can you bring? Well, any spare mulch or organic matter (compost, sawdust, horse/cow manure, fine green waste etc), herb and veggie seedlings, fruit trees, a pond (kid's wading pool). Actually, if someone can bring a BBQ that would rock, and a bite of food to share is more than welcome, all the better if it comes from your own garden.
