A gang of Permaculturists, WWOOFers, and one brilliant greywater expert are right now transforming a mild-mannered Elwood courtyard into a kind of Water Nirvana, and we would love to have you join us. Good food, good people, bad music... maybe you can help us change that. (Delicious vegetarian lunch and snacks provided)

The garden is encircled by a serpentine rill, which floods from tank twice a week, filling buried porous terracotta pots (wetpots), and a pebbled swale, watering the garden of edibles and beautifuls with roof-captured water. This ingenious system was thought up by Greywater scientist Grant Harper, who is also a kind of Willy Wonka of making water do amazing things.

We've been putting in the foundations for a couple of weeks now. This Saturday 9th (and maybe some polishing off next Saturday 16th) we are looking for designers and workers to join us for the fun stuff and finishing off.
Its a small space, and we need dedicated people only, so RSVP is essential. Then we can prepare you to do a great job, and set you up to get the skills you want to get. We hope to meet people that will become good colleagues for professional jobs in the future.

Tasks include:
Finish the laying and cementing a beautiful level curve of cobblestones around the rill
Filling the swale with aggi-pipe and pebbles.
Putting in the buried porous wetpots, that will seep out water to surrounding plants
Planting out the blue and yellow fragrant flowering edible garden and herb lawn.
Help with accounting and reciepts (see where the best suppliers are, how much stuff costs)
Wholesale plant buying (you can get your own on the same mission, half of retail price, since you are now a design professional)
Creating a vine-covered brush-fence structure to shade and hide the heating units
Painting the new decking timber with persimmon juice, a traditional Japanese preservative.
Practicing the permaculture attitudes of being positive, working with 'how things are' rather than 'how they "Should" be', and being in action.
