When: Saturday 4th Dec Permablitz : 9.30 am til 5pm,
The “Garden Party”. Theme: think “Greenery”!
"Extra talks and workshops for the celebration of the 100 Permablitz weekend!
Come along for a great day!
On Saturday, December 4 we invite you to join us to build and plant in the Permaculture food gardens!
The first Commons blitz saw over 30 people come together to dig, drill, screw, compost & propagate. A 20 meter long raised sleeper bed now sits in place waiting for an irrigation system, plants and YOU.
In this second Commons Permablitz, we will turn our focus to create the children’s garden , planting in the Berry & Tea garden the Orchard Garden featuring fruit trees.
Come to join us and learn about: - Constructing a Living Willow Archway , maybe one of the first Living Willow structure in Melbourne - Constructing two wick sleeper garden beds in the hottest corner of the children’s garden. - Planting the Berry & Tea Garden located in the shady area. - Planting fruit trees & learn about companion plants, perennials & annuals in the orchard garden - Harvesting & Seed saving for the existing courtyard gardens. - & more!
What to bring:
· For the blitz - sturdy shoes/clothes, shovel, gardening gloves, any spare seedlings.. · A plate to share in morning and afternoon tea, (lunch is provided, but please RSVP) and your music instrument!
The event ========== 9.00am Registration 9.30am Welcome & Permablitz Gathering Circle - Brief of the Day 10.00am Construction Begins! – Willow archway, raised wick sleeper beds, planting out the garden beds & creating Children’s play area. 1.00pm Yummy Lunch 1.45- 4.45pm Fun continues to get the gardens complete! 5pm - 6 pm Join us for a cold beer or juice at the end of a rewarding days work.
